James H. Meisner • July 1, 1932 - February 27, 2021

James H. Meisner, of Farmington, passed away at his home, surrounded by family and loved ones on Saturday, February 27, 2021 in Farmington, New Mexico.

He was born July 1, 1932, in Morrill, Kansas to Hiram and Blanch Meisner. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Bill, John and George Meisner (Birgitta). He is survived by his wife Bonnie K. Meisner of Farmington, N. M.; daughters Debbie Rodriquez of Rio Rancho, N. M. , Darcie Garcia and her husband John of Farmington, N. M. and son J. D. Meisner and his wife MaryLee, of Tryon, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would also like to thank

Jim graduated from Osage City, Kansas, high school and after serving in the US Army during the Korean confl ict, married the love of his life, Bonnie K. Romine. He then received his Bachelors Degree in geology from Kansas State University.

Jim was employed with Kerr McGee Nuclear Corporation in Grants, New Mexico working as a supervisor in uranium mining for 32 years. He retired from Rio Algom Mining Corporation in 1992.

He served four years on the Grants, N.M. City Council, and four years on the Cibola County Commission. Jim was a member of the Northwest New Mexico Council Of Governments and served on the board of the New Mexico Association of Counties while county commissioner.

He was a member of the Presbyterian church and served several terms as Deacon and Elder. He was a past member of Lions International, Elks and American Institute of Mining Engineers. He also was chairman of the board of directors for the New Mexico Mining Museum in Grants and served as chairman of the Grants Hospital Ethics Committee.

While mine superintendent of Section 30 mine in Grants, he contributed to the supervision enabling his crew of over 100 employees to achieve over 500,000 man hours without a lost time injury. By doing so the mine was awarded the coveted Mine Safety Award from the Department of Labor.

Jim loved his family, traveling internationally with his wife and spending time with his children riding horses, hunting, fi shing, skiing, whitewater rafting, boating and enjoying the outdoors in general.
