James Venson Phillips

James Venson Phillips was born September 5, 1931, to William Andrew and Annie Gertrude Phillips in Okfuskee County, near Okemah, Oklahoma. He departed this life June 9, 2022, at the age of 90.

After graduating from Okmulgee High School, he served his country in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1953.

On September 17, 1967, James Venson Phillips and Blanch Goodrich were united in marriage. He spent several years employed at Arkla Gas which later became Consolidated Gas until his retirement. He had such a love for cars he opened his own car lot known as Jim Phillips Cars and Trucks. Jim also owned and raced his own race car.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Blanch Phillips; three stepchildren, Deborah Davis and husband Rod Cummins, Mable Cimino and husband Russell, and Asa Davis Jr. and wife Jolene; one sister, Ann Shelton; one brother, Bill Phillips; grandchildren, Tara Nickels, Christopher Renko, Brandon Renko, Stephanie Sheltman, Shauna Phillips, Jarrett Phillips, Nicole Phillips as well as thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sons, James Phillips Jr., Michael Ray Phillips, and Steven Wayne Phillips, three sisters, Shirley Haney, Emma Jackson, Jewel Cox, and two brothers, Johnson D. Phillips and Howard C. Phillips.
