Jerry Dowe Pruitt

Jerry Dowe Pruitt, passed peacefully from this life at his home, surrounded by family on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. Arr angements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Jerry Dowe was born on March 29, 1950, in Avery, Oklahoma to parents B.A. and Violet (Rodgers) Pruitt. He grew up in the Cushing/ Avery area attending Sunnyside School. He worked hard hauling hay and working various construction jobs. Jerry Dowe started his own construction company at 17 and ran it successfully his entire life. He worked for Bill Worthy for many years as a young man learning the trade of a brick mason, worked a rig in the oilfield, and ran a dairy business for a time. On January 22, 1965, Jerry Dowe was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn by Bro. Carl Farrow Sr.

Jerry Dowe was united in marriage to Kay Huffman on April 1, 1968, in his brother Charles’ home. They made their home in Cushing where their union was blessed with three children, Jeff, Lori, and Felicia. Jerry Dowe was ordained as an elder at Cushing in 1986. He had a great love for reading God’s word, and truly had it written on the tables of his heart.

On March 13, 2010, he was united in marriage to Wendy Smothers. Their union was blessed with three sons, Triston Dowe, Zack Benjamin, and Brody Mack. They made their home in Rogers, Arkansas before moving to Perkins, Oklahoma in 2021. Jerry Dowe loved his family, and enjoyed spending time outdoors teaching his children and grandchildren to hunt.

Jerry Dowe is preceded in death by his wife, Kay; infant sons, Jerry and Jason; grandson, Braden Greenfield; great grandchildren, Jireh Ude and Jeannine Ude; siblings, Doyle Pruitt, Wanda Hamm, Violet Fern Carmichael, Bonnie Pierce Giblet, Naomi Farrow, Jimmy Pruitt, Charles Pruitt, Marie Henderson, Lester Pruitt, Corene Barrett, and Johnny Pruitt.

He is survived by his wife Wendy and sons Triston Dowe, Zack Benjamin, and Brody Mack of the home; son Jeff and wife Sholie Pruitt of Agra, OK, daughter Lori and husband Brandon Greenfield of Agra, OK, and daughter Felicia and husband Josh Jonckowski of Broken Arrow, OK; grandchildren, Ryan and wife Brandy Pruitt, Kolby and wife DaLecia Pruitt, Caulden and wife Shelby Greenfield, Cade and wife Skyler Greenfield, Taylor Ude, Madilyn and husband Madison Watkins, and Chloe Sloate; great grandchildren, Berkeley, Finnley, Marlow, Esme, Channing, Mikey, Granger, Jaxii, Judah, and Emery; one brother, Phillip Sr. and wife Peggy Pruitt of Drumright, OK; as well as many extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2023, at Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the Church of the Firstborn in Cushing. A private family burial will follow at Flynn, Cemetery.
