John L. Spire, Jr.

John L. Spire, Jr. was born on August 10, 1957 in Harrison, Arkansas and departed this life on April 29, 2024 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He graduated from Cushing High School in Cushing, Oklahoma in 1976. He attended McPherson College before joining the Air Force. He served for four years and was stationed in Japan and in California.

After the Air Force, he spent time working for his Uncle John Perkins in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Later, he worked for Oklahoma State University, then Charlton’s Heat & Air and Char-Lin Ranch in Cushing, Oklahoma.

He really enjoyed his time in the Air Force, especially his time in Japan. He also loved each place he worked and the people he worked with.

After a long battle with cancer, John was proud to say he was a cancer survivor.

John was a member of the United Methodist Church in Cushing and is survived by his parents, John Sr. and Emma Spire, his brother, Doug and wife Becky, his nephew Isaac, his nephew Abel and wife Tamika, great nephew, Kirk, his great nieces Ida, Sabel, and Sawyer, and his many cousins and other relatives.

John never missed an opportunity to dote on the children in the family, especially on birthdays and holidays.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Emma Christine.

John loved his family and friends. He was respectful and kind to everyone he met. He loved to read cookbooks and to watch NASCAR and baseball.

John will be laid to rest in Fort Gibson National Cemetery. There will be a brief memorial service with honor guard on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 1:30PM.
