Karen Kay Bair

Karen Kay Bair, 70, lifelong resident of the Mehan, Agra and Cushing area, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024, in the Westhaven Nursing Facility in Stillwater.

Karen was born on October 23, 1954, in Cushing to Howard and Wilma (Allday) Bair. Karen graduated from Cushing High School in 1972. After that, she attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, graduating in 1978. Karen began her teaching career upon graduating college. She taught at Wewoka High School, Olive High School and then Perkins High School until it became Perkins/ Tryon High School; retiring in 2020 after 42 years of teaching.

Karen was an avid horse lover, spending time at the Stables in Stillwater. Karen also was an active 4-H leader during her time at Perkins High School and enjoyed taking BPA students on trips.

Karen was a lifelong member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cushing. Karen served in the church as a music leader and Treasurer until health problems forced her from that service.

Karen was preceded in death by her grandfather, William (WC) Allday; grandmother, Freida Allday; grandfather, John Bair; grandmother, Ola Bair; father, Howard Bair; mother, Wilma (Allday) Bair; one brother, James (Jimmy) Bair and brother-in-law, Harley Holman.

Karen is survived by her four siblings, Linda Hoover and husband, Steven, Carol Holman, John Bair and Tim Bair; a host of niece’s, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 3, 2025, in the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer. Burial will follow in the Lutheran cemetery.
