Body

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Larry Dale Ryan. Larry was born November 16, 1948, in Cushing, Oklahoma, to Dale and Lorene Ryan. Larry met Sharon Hyle of Yale following high school and they married in 1970. Larry passed away peacefully at home following a recent Covid diagnosis and was greeted by The Lord on Sunday, January 24, 2021. He is greatly missed by Sharon his loving wife of over 50 years and his family and friends.

Larry graduated from Cushing High School, Class of 1967. He attended Drake University in Iowa for 2 years before entering the Army where he served for 11 years. Larry and Sharon began their life together in Cushing before moving to Colorado for 10 years where Larry worked in oil fi eld construction. They returned to Oklahoma for a short time before the decided they needed a change of scenery. They spent the next 3 years in St Croix, Virgin Islands. Larry worked for Hess Oil company and spent his free time scuba diving and enjoying the island life. They returned to Oklahoma and took care of a small farm of horses and cattle in Ardmore. Their life took them away from Oklahoma once more to South Carolina and had recently returned and settled in Norman where Larry was working for the US Postal service. Retirement seemed too easy.

Larry was a Certifi ed Dive instructor , loved riding horses, especially George, manufacturing fi rearm suppressors with his son, Mark, hunting and spending time with Sharon. The love they shared was one that most dream about but never fi nd. They laughed together, held hands and took care of each other until his passing.

Larry was a Faithful Christian man and a member of The Church of Christ, The recent pandemic limited sanctuary attendance so Larry and Sharon would spend their Sunday morning watching several hours of Charles Stanley on television. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and is greatly missed by his family. They are comforted by his Faith in The Lord.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; proud son, Mark and wife Gaye of Norman; daughter, Christy Murray of Broken Arrow; granddaughter, Brooklin Pearce and husband Taylor of Ewa Beach, Hawaii,; grandson, Cody Murray and wife Lauren of Greenville, South Carolina; granddaughter, Isabella Murray; great grandchildren, Adelaide, William, Wesley and Orion of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; and other family and friends.
