On Friday May 6th, 2022, Larry “Joe” Johnson, loving father of 4, passed away at age 73 at his home in Stillwater, OK. Joe was born on November 11, 1948 in Yale, Oklahoma to Earl and Matilda Johnson. Joe was an avid Oklahoma State University Basketball, Baseball and Football fan. When he wasn’t cheering on his Cowboys, he could be found spending time with his grandchildren and watching westerns on TV. Joe graduated from Yale High School in 1967 where he was active in football, basketball and baseball. After High School, he attended NOC in Tonkawa, OK where he played catcher for the baseball team. He was drafted into the Army on November 24, 1970 where he served in the Vietnam war until April 17, 1972. Joe was employed by Coca Cola for 18 years, was a truck driver for 4 years and fi nished his working career in janitorial services for Stillwater ISD and Budweiser.
Joe met his fi rst wife Jackie Murphy in 1969 and they married on May 18, 1972. They had 4 children together, Tabitha, Michael, Misty and Daniel. They divorced in 1986 and Joe remarried June 13, 1997 to Carol Brewer of Stillwater, OK. He was blessed with 2 stepsons Jason and Joe.
Joe is survived by his daughter Tabitha Dunn and her husband Terry Dunn of Stroud, Ok, son Michael Johnson and wife Randi of Yale, OK, daughter Misty Johnson of Yale, OK and son Daniel Johnson and wife Selena of Prague, OK; sister Barbara Hendrix and husband Carl of Yale, OK and brother Frank Johnson and wife Wanda of Siloam Springs, AR; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Joe was preceded in death by wife Carol, mom Matilda, dad Earl, sister Thelma Mahaney, and great nephew Trey Seward. Memorial services will be held Saturday May 21 at 4:00 in the afternoon at Lawson Cemetery offi ciated by Pastor Mike Clark.
