Mary Margaret Cox was born June 14, 1931, in Tampa, Florida. She departed this life October 10, 2021, at the age of 90 years.
She graduated from grammar school in Tampa and then attended high school and eventually college in Georgia at Toccoa Falls Bible College where she would receive her bachelor’s degree.
On May 27, 1956, Mary Margaret May was united in marriage to Raymer Cox. From this union were born two children, Tim, and Margaret.
Over her life, Mary served many churches and communities in Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Oklahoma, Kansas, and West Virginia. She served many roles including choir director, children’s ministry and copastor with Raymer. Mary joined Raymer as a co-pastor when she was ordained in 1997. In addition, Mary volunteered in the Brethren Disaster Service in West Virginia and Mississippi.
When Mary wasn’t serving a church or community she enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting and teaching others the bible.
She is survived by her husband, Raymer Cox; two children, Tim Cox, and wife Rosalea, Margaret Nuscher; six grandchildren, T.J. Cox and wife Lindsey Bartgis, Tabitha DaMetz and husband Justin, Celena Cox and husband Ryan Sullivan, Kira Cox, Em ily Nuscher and Sarah Nuscher; three great grandchildren, Julian DaMetz, Evelyn DaMetz and Hollis DaMetz. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00AM, Friday, October 15, 2021, at Big Creek Church of the Brethren. Interment will follow at the Brethren Church Yard Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Matherly-Davis Funeral Home.
