Maurice Martin Manion, longtime Cushing resident, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 in Stillwater, OK.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Euchee Valley Memorial Park with Chaplain Josh Greer officiating.
Maurice was born on November 10, 1921 to Mae Peters and William Manion in Box Butte County, Nebraska. While attending high school, Maurice was drafted in the United States Army during World War II. Maurice served his country proudly for 25 years. After being honorably discharged, Maurice took a job with the Pentagon, serving for 15 years.
Maurice met and fell head over heels in love with Clarice White. They married on February 26, 1944 in Chester, IL and to this union two children were born: David and Rosemarie. Maurice and Clarice shared 74 loving years together before her passing in 2018. Maurice was a loving husband and father, always making sure his family had everything they needed. He was longtime member of First United Methodist Church. In his free time, Maurice would be found tending to his garden or planting a tree.
Maurice was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather. He will be missed by all.
Maurice is preceded in death by his wife, Clarice Manion, both parents, Mae and William Manion, and nine siblings.
Maurice is survived by two children, David Manion and wife, JoAnn, Rosemarie Manion; one brother-in-law, Charlie White; two sisters-in-law, Mary White and Madaline Manion; six grandchildren, Jason Manion and wife, Andrea, Nick Manion and wife, Molly, Brad Jansonius and wife, Emma, Laurie Hageman and husband, Joe, Sherisa Wood and husband, Kalvin, Kelli Hueneke and husband, Jayson; nineteen great grandchildren, Trenton Manion, Makota Manion, Mia Manion, Laney Manion, Jett Manion, Austin Jansonius, Elizabeth Jansonius, Ashtin Hall, Erin Hall, Weston Coomes, Ross Coomes and wife, Victoria, Isaac Coomes, Rachel Coomes, Audrey Wood, Kodie Wood, Nicholas Schemper, Heather Schemper, Olivia Hueneke, and Autumn Hueneke; two great-great grandchildren, Creed Suggs and Kolton Coomes.
In lieu of flowers, donation can be made in Maurice’s name to Companion Hospice, 1314 E. Oklahoma St., Guthrie, OK 73044.
