Maxine Barton was born February 26, 1926, to Spencer and Dora Belle Holland in Davenport, Oklahoma. She departed this life September 15, 2021, at the age of 95.
She moved to Cushing when she was three years old and resided there until she moved to Guthrie in 2017. She went to work for Cushing Hospital as a nurse’s aide in 1953 and remained there for over twenty years.
Maxine was united in marriage to James Barton November 24, 1969. They enjoyed over twenty-two years together before his passing February 21, 1992. She enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, canning and anything that allowed her to spend time with her family.
She is survived by one son, Gary Myers, and wife Patricia; two stepchildren, Betty Nieland and husband Raymond, Jerry Barton and wife Margaret; three grandchildren, Katie Eshragh and husband Matthew, Gary Don Myers Jr. and spouse Sherry, Gregory VanNess and spouse Royce; eight step grandchildren, Vanessa, Christina, Brandon, Justin, Doug, Katheryn, Jim, and Stacey; great grandchildren, Joel Thomas Myers and significant other Jesse, Skylar Faye Myers and significant other Zach, Grace, Noah, Kensley, Blake, Jimmy Jr., Peyton, Kaitlyn, Olivia and Bailey; 5 great great grand-children Sumara, Malachi, Asher, Itzahk, and Oliver. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Joel Henry Myers and James Barton, son, Hershel Leon VanNess, eight sisters, four brothers, two grandsons, John VanNess and Philip Joel Myers, one great grandson, Gary Don Myers III.
Services are being held privately. Services are under the direction of Matherly-Davis Funeral Home.
