Otho Luther McEntire, 89, longtime Agra resident passed peacefully from this life on April 26, 2022 , surrounded by his family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.
Otho was born May 12, 1932 in Sparks, Oklahoma to proud parents Martin and Vergie (Howard) McEntire. He was raised there and at the age 13 the family moved to Parkland where he attended school. In his youth he farmed with his family before helping his brother, Alfred doing mechanic work. At the age of 18, Otho married the love of his life Grace Wright at the courthouse in Chandler. They shared a life full of love and were “honeymooners” for their whole marriage. Their union was quickly blessed with children as they welcomed their son, Bobby. It wouldn’t be long before the girls came along, Evon, Tawanna, LaReva, and Brenda. Otho was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn at the gin pond in Parkland. The family was raised in the Agra area sharing many Sunday dinners and nights playing music and singing. The family worked hard, whether it was gardening, fishing, or hunting, it was always done together as a group.
Otho began working in the oilfield after marriage and would continue there until retirement. He spent many years as a hobby farmer and was true to his roots raising crops and cattle. Through the years Otho had many dogs, he had a gift for training them and could teach them about any skill or trick. He was also a gifted musician, singing and playing harmonica. Anyone who knew him knew he loved to visit, there was never a quick conversation no matter the topic. He was a genuinely fun person who loved to joke and laugh. Above all though, he was a very dependable and loving soul. He would give anyone help that needed it and went out of his way many times to lend a hand.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Bobby McEntire; son in law, Frank Chapman; siblings, Alfred McEntire, Elnora Graham, Edward McEntire, Dempsey McEntire, Seldon McEntire, and Nathan McEntire. He was survived by his wife of over 70 years, Grace who would shortly follow him into rest 16 hours later; daughters, Evon and husband Carroll Thronesbery, Tawanna Chapman, LaReva and husband Rudy Mandeville, and Brenda Hart; daughter in law, Marilyn McEntire; siblings, Stella Rodgers, Viola and husband Carl Mason, Thelma and husband Donnie Bean, sister in law, Willa Jean McEntire; grandchildren, Daniel and wife Lindsey McEntire, Candice Thronesbery, Crystal and wife Jasmin Thronesbery, Amanda and husband Rodney Fisher, Kevin Chapman, Tyler and wife Maria Bottger, Kyle and wife Lindsay Bottger, Megan and husband Joshua Rarick, Michael Hart and fiancé Summer Barker; 15 great grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.
