Patrice Smith Golliver was born November 25, 1951 to Melvin and Vaunita Smith in Cushing, Oklahoma. She gave up her fight of health problems and went to be with the Lord on January 28, 2021. She attended school in Cushing, where she graduated Co-Valedictorian. She then attended UCO in Edmond and graduated with a Master’s Degree. After graduation, she taught Middle School Math and helped coached Junior High Girls’ Basketball at Chandler Middle School for 17 years. She later went to Cushing where she taught Middle School Math for 15 more years. She received Teacher of the Year at Chandler and Cushing and was a finalist for the State Teacher of the Year. It was not uncommon for her to run into former students who told her, “Of all my years in school, you were my favorite teacher.” While at Cushing, she coached a Math Counts competition team and placed every year they competed. She loved teaching math but was forced to retire in 2005 because of her health.
She married John Golliver on June 8th of 1980 and made their home in Agra, OK. To this marriage was born Jonathan and Elizabeth Golliver. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Agra where she taught a Jr. High Sunday School class and was in charge of the Missions programs for a number of years. She loved God and made Him number one in her life, family was number two, others were number three and herself number four. She was the 4H leader of the Agra 4H and was awarded the Goodbary Award of Excellence in 2008 for her leadership in Lincoln County 4H. She was also awarded the Honorary Chapter Famer Degree in the Agra FFA, was a lifetime member of the FFA Alumni Association. She was also a member of Lincoln County Delta Kappa Honorary Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents Melvin and Vaunita Smith. Survivors include her husband, John; son, Jonathan and wife Brianne of Dale, Oklahoma; daughter, Elizabeth of Chandler, OK; stepson, Bill and Sue Golliver of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; stepdaughter, Tina and Brian Bales of Jennings, Oklahoma; brother, James and Lori Smith of Edmond, Oklahoma; sister, Melva and Everett Tipton of Hutchison, Kansas; granddaughters, Karoline and Brooklyn Golliver; step grandsons, Gabe Golliver, Tyler Bales, Eric Bales and step granddaughter Candace Moore.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Cushing, Oklahoma.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Palmer Marler Funeral Home, 800 S. Linwood Ave. Cushing, OK.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 1, 2021 at the Fellowship Hall of Agra First Baptist Church. The family kindly asks for everyone to practice social distancing and wear masks. Memorial Donations can be made to Agra First Baptist Church in Pat’s honor.
