Ralph Warren Wilson “COACH” entered into his heavenly reward on February 20, 2021 at the age of 73, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Ralph was born to Richard “Dick” and Hazel (Lord) Wilson in Alva, OK on November 28, 1947. Ralph grew up in Waynoka, OK where he excelled in sports especially in Football. He was the fi rst All-State player to come out of Waynoka and he received a Football Scholarship to attend Oklahoma State University. He was a Cowboy from 1966 to 1970.OSU is where he met the love of his life Debbie. They were married January 17, 1970 and just celebrated their 51st anniversary. To this union they had 2 children. Ralph and Debbie both have a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree from OSU. They did their Student Teaching in Cushing, OK and never left. Ralph taught Dr. Ed among other subjects and coached 9th Grade football, helped with the wrestling team and the Girl’s and Boy’s Golf Teams.

Coach Wilson was known around the state for his successful Girl’s and Boy’s Golf Teams. The boys had 17 Regional Championships and 4 State Championships. The girls had 8 Regional Championships and 5 State Championships. He had a total of 24 All State Golfers. He was named the OK Boy’s Golf Coach of the year in 1991 and OK Girl’s Golf Coach of the year in 1995. He was inducted into the Cushing HS Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017.

Coach was loved and well thought of by his students, he sang in the choir at First Baptist Church, was on the Chain Crew for 26 years at OSU home games, he hunted rattlesnakes and he chaperoned HS dances where he and Debbie would show them how it was done - the kids always got a kick out of that!!

Ralph is predeceased by his parents and brother-in-law Gene Matthews and survived by Debbie, Son Robert, his wife Tracie, and their children Reese and Adam Wilson all of Sand Springs, OK and daughter Devon, her husband Michael, and their children Sophia and Samantha Cooper of Salt Lake City, Utah. He is also survived by his sister Mary Anne, her husband James Baker of Newton, KS and sisters-in-law Dana, her husband Bob Hill of Garland, TX and Angie Matthews of Edmond, OK and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be Saturday, February 27th at 10am at FBC Cushing. Pastor Marvin Kehl will offi ciate. Thanks to Palmer Marler Funeral Home and TigerLilyFloral.com for providing their services.
