Robert (Bob) Eugene Johnston passed away on June 10, 2024, in Cushing, Oklahoma at the age of 96. Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 13, 2024, in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Matherly- Davis funeral home.
Robert was born on February 21st, 1928 in Watonga, Oklahoma to Bruce R. and Lillian B. (Towery) Johnston. Robert received his education in the Watonga school system where he was an active member of the FFA program. He moved with his parents to Cushing, Oklahoma at the age of 19 and has resided in the Cushing area until his passing.
On January 20, 1952 Robert was united with Imogene Henderson in marriage at First Christian Church, Cushing, Oklahoma and through this union adopted two daughters, Robin and Amber. Roberts wife, Imogene, passed away in July 1995 and he remarried Twylah Bonita (Maitlen) Pope on July 7, 2001 in a ceremony held in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Robert was a veteran of the US Army entering in February 1955 and receiving an honorable discharge in February 1957. His time in the service was spent as a specialist second class.
Following his honorable discharge, he was then employed for 26 years a Midland Coop and Hudson Refinery from 1957 to 1983. After the closing of the refinery, Robert worked at Southwest Laboratory for 14 years, retiring in 1997.
Robert is proceeded in death by his parents, Bruce and Lillian Johnston, his sisters, Virginia Hendricks and Mary Sue Edwards, his wife Imogene Johnston, and two nephews and niece, Fred and Julie McGee and Paul Richards. He is survived by his wife Twylah B. Johnston of the home, his daughter, Amber Arnce, of Cushing, two granddaughters, Ashlynn and Tatum Arnce of Cushing, Oklahoma, one niece and her husband, Jennifer and Earl Horner of Enid, Oklahoma, and another Jamie Sue Richards of Perkins, Oklahoma, and many extended family members and friends.
