Robert Lynn Theimer, age 74, passed away peacefully in his home in Cushing on December 11th, 2021.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m on Thursday, December 16th, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Cushing. A Rosary will also be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15th at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Cushing.
Robert was born July 2nd, 1947 in Oklahoma City to Robert Arthur and Lois Lynn Theimer. He grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from US Grant High School. After graduating from high school, he attended Central State and received his bachelor’s of science degree in 1968 and went on to earn his master’s of science degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1974.
After completing his education, Robert put his vast knowledge of science to use by beginning his career working for OG&E. Later, he took a position at Commanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant in Texas, where he worked for 31 years before retiring.
Robert had a love for science, especially nature. He was highly involved with the Master Naturalist organization in Texas and volunteered much of his time at the Acton Nature Center. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge and teaching others by giving presentations, taking fi eld trips into the great outdoors, and answering questions with extensive explanations.
Robert had a servant’s heart and devoted much of his time to serving his community and the church. He was also a natural leader and held several leadership roles along the way. For many years, he volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and even served as the president of the Tarrant County chapter. He had the creativity, knowledge, and skills that allowed him to build or fi x almost anything and he enjoyed using those assets to help others.
Robert was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Texas and Oklahoma and was named Grand Knight of Council 1903 which serves the Saints Peter and Paul Parrish and the community of Cushing, Oklahoma. Also, Robert recently served as the president of the homeowners association for the neighborhood where he was living. When it was time to relax, Robert enjoyed watching football and Nascar.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Lois Theimer, and his daughter, LeAnn Theimer. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Theimer, and his children April Stepp, Lynna Theimer, Clark Theimer and wife Mandy, Heather Miller and husband David, fourteen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
