Roy Neil Baker went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 26, 2020. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Lawson Cemetery, Yale, Oklahoma.

Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Yale, Oklahoma.

Roy was born on December 25, 1921 in Norfolk, Oklahoma to the late H. W. and Olive (Carnahan) Baker. He served in the Army during WWII. Roy married the love of his life Ida Doreen Pinkstaff on December 25, 1944 in Norfolk, Oklahoma, to this union David, Janet and Jeff were born.

Roy worked for Kerr-McGee for 43 years where his work carried him and Doreen to many states including Oklahoma, Arizona, Texas, but came back to Yale to retire in 1990. They were faithful members of the Yale Assembly of God. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan, enjoyed watching OSU Cowboys and OKC Thunder basketball. He liked watching Gaither Home videos. Roy loved his cats. He was independent and self-driven. Jesus was number one in his life. Full of the Holy Ghost loving God’s word the Bible. He was an encourager, meek, honest, friendly and loved the church and was a mighty prayer warrior. While they were in Arizona, they worked with the Navajo Indian Tribe as missionaries. He enjoyed reading the newspaper everyday and Channel 5 was the news station to watch. His pastor and friend Randell would drive his old hooptie around Cushing, Oilton and Drumright backroads and hear stories from yesteryear. Going to Wal Mart to buy groceries was a highlight of the week. His motto “I can do it”.

Survivors include his sons David Baker and Barney of Dumas, Tx., Jeff Baker of Guthrie, Ok., numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Doreen Baker, his daughter Janet Fleming, brothers H. D. Baker and Rev. Cleo Baker, sisters Mary Williams, Ruby Shaw and Ellen Elrod.
