Ruth Ellen Foresee passed peacefully Wednesday morning, March 5, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. At the age of 92, she gracefully left us for a long-awaited reunion with her husband in heaven. Although happy she is in heaven, we mourn her loss in our lives here. Ruth Ellen Vernon was born in Anthony, Kansas, on December 30, 1932, to Hazel and Clarence Vernon. She grew up in the farming community of Medford, OK and was no stranger to hard work. When in college, Ruth Ellen met and married Don Foresee from Cushing, OK. When asked by a close friend if she missed the farm, she answered “Well, you noticed I married a city boy!” They were happily married 68 years and raised a wonderful family of three children in Cushing.
Since Ruth had only one younger brother and Don was an only child, the small family would gather together during the holidays to celebrate, which created an environment of laughter, love, and games for their close-knit family. Ruth was a devout Christian and sought to ensure her family knew the Lord. She was a faithful servant in the Baptist Church of Cushing for many years where she used the musical talents God gave her as a pianist. She was respected in her community serving as the Oklahoma State Regent of DAR and participating in other clubs and organizations. Education was very important to Ruth, not just for her own children but for others as well. After raising her children, Ruth used her personality trait of paying careful attention to details by working during tax seasons for Pancoast and Smith preparing tax returns. Ruth absolutely adored her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them whenever she could. She was always happy to play a game, preferably a card game, with a friend or family member and enjoyed lifelong friendships.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Don in 2021, her brother Dale Vernon, last year and his late wife, LaDonna Vernon. She is survived by her three children, Cheri Eubank (Bob), Dan Foresee and Rebecca Towery. She had five grandchildren, Dustin Foresee, Austin Foresee, Tara Metcalf, Dane Towery and Christine Eubank, and four great-grandchildren, Lauren Foresee, Clarisa Metcalf, Freya Towery and Duke Towery; nieces and nephews, Rodney, Jay, CC Vernon, and Whitney Allen; and sister-in-law, Kelle Vernon, Dale’s surviving spouse.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at the Palmer Marler Chapel. Interment will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery in Cushing.
