Samuel Lee Skinner passed from this life with his family by his side on May 24, 2023, at his grandd a u g h t e r ’s home in Jennings, OK. His care has been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, OK. A memorial service celebrating Samuel’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023 at Crossroads Community Church, 52787 W, OK-51, Jennings, OK 74038. Samuel was born on March 12, 1943, in Jennings, OK, to parents Charles Maynard Skinner and Lydia Violet Barron. He and his brothers and sisters grew up in the Yale and Jennings areas where he spent most of his days. He went into the Army where he served as a marksman in Germany for two years. After he left the Army, he met and married Joyce Ann. Joyce had two children of her own that Samuel took in and helped raise them as his own.
Samuel worked at the Stillwater Water Treatment plant for 15 years before he retired and spent the rest of his days doing for others. He enjoyed helping to raise all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren, mowing lawns for local churches and volunteering for his church ministry preaching to inmates in prison. Samuel was very active in his church at Yale Church of God helping to drive the bus for members who couldn’t make it out on their own. Samuel loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren so much. He loved to be a part of their sports activities, helping and cheering on every chance he had. He was also an avid Yale Bulldogs and Texas Longhorns fan. Samuel will be greatly missed by all his family and those who knew and loved him.
Samuel is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joyce Ann, grandson Leslie Frank Bryant and his great-grandson John Glenn Clark.
He is survived by his two sons, Randy and Leslie Bryant; grandchildren, Sasha Bryant, Chris Bohannon, Erica Bryant, Ashly Kennmore, Lora Bryant, Dusty Bryant, Ariel McDonald, Aric McDonald, Ethan Bryant, Emily Bryant, Alyssa Pollman and James Pollman; great-grandchildren, Gavin Clark, Frankie Griffin, Gwennie Fields, Tatum Fields, Landon Kitchen, Adalynn Kennmore, Lane Tenpenny and Paisley Bryant; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends and church family.
