Sarah Lucy Dooley • May 18, 1934 - February 21, 2021

Sarah Lucy Dooley of Cushing, Oklahoma passed peacefully from this life on February 21, 2021 with her daughters by her side.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma.

She was born on May 18, 1934 in Osborn, Ohio to proud parents Lonnie and Mary (Walters) Merry. Sarah grew up in Osborn graduating from Fairborn High School with the Class of 1952. She married Larry Semler in August of 1952, this union was blessed with her two beautiful daughters, Terry and Debbie. In 1963 she would be united in marriage to Jimmie Ray Dooley of Cushing, OK. They lived in Delaware, Hawaii, and New Jersey as Jimmie was stationed in the U.S. Air Force. After his retirement in 1972, Jimmie and Sarah moved back to Cushing, Oklahoma. She was a dedicated member of United Methodist Church, the Cushing Red Hat Society, Cushing Hospital Auxiliary, the Pilot Club, and the Eastern Stars. She worked for several years as a PARA at Cushing Public and Deep Rock Schools. Many in the community knew Sarah from being Mrs. Claus every year at the school and hospital.

Sarah is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie; parents, Lonnie and Mary; siblings, John Crowell, Mary Louise Blevins, and Laverne Merry; and son in law, Scott Simmons.

She is survived by her daughters, Terry and husband Don Rodgers of Ripley, OK, and Debbie Simmons of Cushing, OK; grandchildren, Shaun and wife Shavon Cooper of Callaway, MD, James and wife Sarah Cooper of Bixby, OK, Sherri Rodgers of Ripley, OK, and Steven and wife Rose Rodgers of Edmond, OK; great grandchildren, Taylor Cooper, Devin Rice, Nate Cooper, Patrick Cooper, Gabe Cooper, Gracie Cooper, and Kaleb Rodgers.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 and 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2021.

Funeral Services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at the Chapel of Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing. Minister Linda Ewen will offi ciate, services will conclude at the Chapel.
