March 28, 1938 - March 27, 2022
Suzanne Fenton Carpenter passed away on March 27, 2022. We rejoice that she celebrated her 84th birthday in the presence of Jesus. A life celebration service will be held Monday, April 4th, 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Stillwater. Strode Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Suzanne was born on March 28, 1938, in Cushing, OK to Dale and Margueritte Fenton. She attended Eugene Field Elementary, Stillwater Junior and Senior High Schools. She then attended OSU, where she earned a Masters in Business Education in 1961. Many nights, Suzanne could be heard strumming her ukulele and leading sing-a-longs at the Kappa Alpha Theta house. While at OSU, she met and married Jerry Carpenter. They raised three children and were married for 43 years before Jerry’s death in 2004. Suzanne was involved with the family business, Fenton Office Supply for most of her 80 plus years. She was proud to live in Stillwater almost all her life. She said that the Stillwater Community shaped her life, but in truth Suzanne shaped the lives of countless people in our community and beyond.
The impact Suzanne left was a legacy of service. She got involved with DHS, adopting families to care for. She befriended the Community Action Agency and went to work raising money for families needing assistance. She and Jerry were involved with Big Brothers and Sisters and the Mission of Hope. She volunteered with Mobile Meals for over 30 years, delivering food and a smile all around Stillwater. Suzanne had a huge heart for those with special needs and could be found leading music at MPower and FUMC’s Faith class. Later in life, she would partner with a special group of ladies known as E-Angels, secretly meeting the needs of hundreds of families. She felt like God put her, and each person, here on the earth to step outside themselves and make a difference.
Suzanne, lovingly known as Momo and Momma C, was a mom to many. She had a way of making each person feel special. She did the same for her seven grandchildren and was always at their activities and events. Momo intentionally invested in them and loved making lifelong memories with each. She also shared with them her passion for serving others.
Known for her storytelling, Suzanne brought laughter wherever she went. Her quick wit and loyalty created friendships in many circles including bridge club, Browning, Theta, FUMC and the neighborhood. She was an avid fan of all OSU sports, talented artist, golfer, bird watcher and dog-lover.
Preceding her in death were her parents and husband, Jerry. She leaves behind children Terry (Pam) Carpenter, Cheryl Carpenter Martin and Steve (Tricia) Carpenter; grandchildren Luke, Joshua (Marcy), Sarah, Rachel, Adam, Jacob and Kate.
