Trena Louise McAlister-Anthony

Trena Louise McAlister-Anthony passed from this life all too soon on February 23, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Her care has been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, Oklahoma.

Trena was born on July 30, 1941, to parents Truman and Mildred (Johnston) Nichols in Cushing, Oklahoma. Trena graduated from Cushing and went on to Oklahoma State University where she earned her bachelor’s degree and began her lifelong career as a social worker for the State of Oklahoma. Trena adored her career working with so many different families as it gave her the opportunity to become a mother and grandmother to so many that we not fortunate enough to have one of their own. She had so much love to give, she shared it with whomever needed it.

She had a larger-than-life personality that drew people to her, you never knew what spunky, no limit, nosy moment might come when you were around Trena. She was truly the life of the party, never meeting a stranger and giving of herself, usually to a fault. Even with all her fun and exciting ways, Trena made sure she made time for her most important service, her service to her God. She chose to service God through giving of herself to her church, working in charities, tutoring in after school activities at her church, teaching in Sunday school and most importantly, teaching her own family about their own faith.

If you knew Trena well, you knew that she had a love for animals almost as much as her children. Her husband Don would find new stray animals around their house that Trena had taken in to ensure they were taken care of. Trena truly had a heart of gold. Her family will greatly miss her shopping trips to Goodwill, cutting a rug on the dance floor, stopping on the side of the road to take a quick nap, telling of her travel stories and where all she visited and even beating her granddaughters in basketball at the ripe age of 72. Trena had a zeal for life, sharing it wherever and with whomever she was with.
