Attorney General Drummond receives transparency award

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Gentner Drummond has become the first ever attorney general to receive the Sunshine Award from Freedom of Information (FOI) Oklahoma. The prestigious honor is awarded each year to a public official for showing a commitment to open meetings and open records.

CUSHING — March is Youth Arts Month and The Lachenmeyer Arts Center is pleased to present the Annual Youth Arts Show. It will be on exhibit until March 15. The Lachenmeyer Arts Center is located in the Cushing Youth & Community Center at 700 S. Little Ave.

Every year in mid-March, we recognize a week to celebrate the importance of open government and access to public information. Sunshine Week, which this year runs from March 10 to 16, promotes open meetings and open records – topics that have long been near and dear to me.

CUSHING — A special meeting of the City of Cushing Board of Commissioners and Municipal Authority Trustees was held on March 4 during which all items were approved. The meeting was necessary due to a contract deadline which would come up before the next regular meeting.

CUSHING — The Cushing Public Schools’ Tiger Trails project will be constructed in three phases with the first phase beginning this month, according to Superintendent Melissa Amon.

CUSHING — Cushing City Manager Terry Brannon delivered what he called his last state of the city address in front of a full house at the Fechner Event Center last Wednesday.Brannon said that he would be transitioning out.
