We’re now about halfway through the 2023 legislative session, and the Senate and House each approved more than 400 measures by last Thursday’s deadline. Those bills have now been sent to the opposite chamber to begin the process all over again.

CHS Band brings home the Sweepstakes Award

The Cushing High School band attended OSSAA State Competition on March 30 during which the group earned the Sweepstakes Award, according to Band Director Danny White it is the highest award for Oklahoma High School bands.

Skull Creek Bridge replacement planned

The Payne County Board of Commissioners Monday approved a proposal from TK Elevator for modernizing the Payne County Jail elevator. District 1 Commissioner Zach Cavett said the proposal was for $230,000. The Commissioners approved a contract by and between Payne County and EST, Inc.
