The Grand River Dam Authority lit up their lake patrol boat once again this year. The Cushing American Legion Post 108 led the parade down Broadway. LD’s Wrecker Service of Chandler brought up their stylish train.

Cushing Public Schools Superintendent Koln Knight has announced that he will be retiring from the district at the end of this school year, effective June 30, 2021. Knight said that he and his wife Nancy have been talking about retirement for a while and made the decision to do so about a year ago.

Dance team takes third at state

The Cushing High School Dance Team competed Saturday, Dec. 12, in the OSDTDA State Competition in the category of 2A/3A/4A Mix with a dance choreographed by Dance Star Productions owner Jillian Blakemore.

Candidates file for Feb. local elections

The period to file for candidacy in municipal and board of education elections in Payne and Creek Counties was Monday, Dec. 7 through Wednesday Dec. 9. The election date in Payne County for school boards as well as municipalities is Tuesday, Feb. 9.

Cushing Masonic Lodge #111 member Lee Roy Kalka presented a personal check for $1,000 to United Way of Payne County last week, along with a dollar for dollar matching gift from the Cushing Masonic Lodge. The United Way of Payne County is currently fundraising $950,000 with a local goal of $33,000.

Cushing Pride honored by state organization

There was disappointment in the year 2020 for those who enjoyed the Cushing Pride events of gathering at City Hall and loading up on buses to be whisked away to "Litter Heaven".

First Amendment Congress

FOI Oklahoma's annual First Amendment Congress for high school students has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 9. The virtual event was originally set for late October but was postponed because of school closures and other delays caused by the ice storm that hit much of the state.
