911 System Update Bill Sent to Governor

With just a few weeks remaining in the regular legislative session, budget negotiations have ramped up significantly. The Legislature has until May 26 to send a general appropriations bill for Fiscal Year 2024, which begins July 1, to the governor's desk.

Education Negotiations Continue

The Governor signed a third bill of mine into law this week. House Bill 1029 directs the State Dept. of Education to create a standard form for reporting on student homelessness. This form is important to ensure we can direct these students toward resources. This bill has been a long time coming.

Senate Review

My heart bleeds orange. My wife and I are both OSU graduates, and throughout my career as a CPA and my service in the Oklahoma Senate, we have continued to support our alma mater and have volunteered at the university, especially with international students, for many years.

House Observes OKC Bombing Anniversary

This past week, the House observed the 28th anniversary of the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City.

More than a parent

Have you ever considered who your parents were before they were a parent? It is difficult to admit but the first time I considered my mom anything other than my mom was well into my teenage years on the cusp of being considered a legal adult.

Another Deadline Passes

A few weeks ago, I outlined my Senate bill after it passed its subcommittee. I'm glad to share that Senate Bill 281 passed the second hurdle, the full House Appropriations & Budget Committee on Wednesday, which means it's now eligible to be heard on the House floor.

We’ve now passed the deadline for Senate committees to vote on bills sent over from the House, and have until April 27 to complete floor votes on those measures the committees approved.
