Veterans Day, I attended a special memorial highway dedication ceremony at the American Legion Post 108 in Cushing. I ran legislation last session to name a portion of State Highway 18 after Roy 'Junior' Herring, a local World War II hero.

How Payne County Voted

On Tuesday, Nov. 8 registered voters went to the polls for the mid-term general election and selected their choice for various local and state government decisions. The results of the Payne County votes are detailed below.

We need the Broadway District Streetscape

The City of Cushing is considering an improvement to the Broadway District that includes streetscape improvements, beautification and lighting to Broadway, Cleveland, Harrison and Noble Streets.

Studies Focus on SQ780, SQ781 Funding

The general election is in less than two weeks, and I want to share important information for casting your vote. You can vote early Wed., Nov. 2 through Fri., Nov. 4 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sat., Nov. 5 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Early voting takes place at your county election board office.

Positive Signs

Across the street from our house is an Indian Sign Tree. Native Americans would bend over young trees to hold the position and point travelers toward water or a trail. These trees were always helpful to the general community.

THE MISSING INK

NK So the goal Tuesday will be to have the election board realize it did not order enough of those red white and blue “I voted” stickers because voter turnout was exponentially higher than anticipated.

Senate Review

My wife, Ann, and I never miss OSU’s homecoming celebrations. I think they’re among the very best in the entire nation, and reflect the dedication of the administration, faculty, current students, alumni, and fans.
