Cushing athletes compete at All-State

2021 Cushing Tigers Hayden Fry (left) and Tristan Jackson (right) played in last week’s OSSAA East-West All State football game and both had great games at the linebacker position. Fry had an interception in the fi rst half and the East won 31-0.

Cushing players appear in 6A/5A All-State Game

Three Cushing slowpitch softball players appeared in the 6A/5A All-State Game on Saturday, June 19. Nakiyah Jackson, Rachel Sherwood, who also appeared in the fast pitch All-State game, and Cadeynce Lewis, led the West team to a 16- 12 victory at Oklahoma Christian University.

Dingers for Dad

The 8U Cushing Tiger baseball team took home the Championship at “Dingers for Dad” baseball tournament over Fathers Day weekend.

Big weekend for Cushing youth sports

It was an eventful weekend for four youth teams in Cushing. The Cushing Tigers 12U baseball team competed in the BMAC Tournament in Perry, Oklahoma this weekend. The Tigers went 1-1 in pool play before going 3-0 in bracket play en route to becoming tournament champions.

WCWS National Champions

The first softball national champion since 2019 has been crowned and they hail from Norman, Oklahoma. The Sooners (56-4) led by head coach Patty Gasso won their fifth national championship since 2000, when the Sooners won their first national title.

York coaches 4A-5A all-state game

Cushing softball was well represented in the OSSAA All-State game on Saturday as Tiger head Coach Nikki York was chosen to coach and two Tiger seniors, pitcher Katelyn Carrier and second baseman Rachel Sherwood got things done on the field.

Cushing MX rider ninth in Lakewood

The Rocky Mountains played host as round two of the 2021 Pro Motocross outdoor championship stopped at Thunder Valley MX Park in Lakewood, CO. Cushing native Justin Bogle, of Team Rocky Mountain put in a strong ride for an 11th place overall finish.

Youth football/cheer signups are here

The Cushing Youth and Community Center are providing youth football and cheerleading sign ups for third through sixth graders. The Youth Center is joining the Red Dirt Football League for the second year in a row.

OSU Baseball season ends at home

The Oklahoma State baseball season ended in Tucson, Arizona on Sunday after a devastating 13-3 loss to the University of California in Santa Barbara 13-3.

Lots and lots of Tigers

A total of 107 young athletes braved last week’s soggy weather and participated in the Cushing Lady Tiger softball camp. According to Lady Tiger head coach Nikki York, camp was originally scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, but was pushed to Tuesday and Wednesday because of the torrential rains.
