The Cushing Tigers showed they could play with a 4A powerhouse team Friday when they went toe to toe with the (6-2, 5-0) Blanchard Lions and came to within one minute of defeating them on their own turf.

Cadeynce Lewis Cadeynce went 2-2 at the plate during last Thursday’s opening round game of the 4A state tournament. She started a fourth inning rally with a single that resulted in an RBI. Haden Fry Haden had 34 carries and rushed for 250 yards and scored two touchdowns.

Lady Tigers end season ranked fifth in 4A fast-pitch

The Cushing Lady Tiger softball team ended its season ranked fifth in Oklahoma 4A softball with a 25-10 record and Head Coach Nikki York said that had just a couple things gone differently at the state tournament, that ranking might have been even higher.

After squeezing out a win over a much improved Harrah team the previous week, the Cushing Tiger football team faced a tough 2-3, Tecumseh team, and while they played hard for four quarters, a pair of pick-six interceptions by the Savages in the second quarter padded Tecumseh's halftime lead, 35-0.

The Ripley High School lady Warriors fast pitch softball team made school history this weekend when they became the Class A State champions with a 6-4 win over Binger- Oney in the final, played at the Oklahoma Softball Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, Saturday.
