CHS Band brings home the Sweepstakes Award

The Cushing High School band attended OSSAA State Competition on March 30 during which the group earned the Sweepstakes Award, according to Band Director Danny White it is the highest award for Oklahoma High School bands.

Skull Creek Bridge replacement planned

The Payne County Board of Commissioners Monday approved a proposal from TK Elevator for modernizing the Payne County Jail elevator. District 1 Commissioner Zach Cavett said the proposal was for $230,000. The Commissioners approved a contract by and between Payne County and EST, Inc.

Fire guts Cushing business

Just six months after opening her business, The Bronze Barn, owner Chelsie Main is facing an uncertain future. Last Wednesday, a devastating fire gutted the building at 204 N Harrison, in Cushing, where she ran her tanning and nail salon.
