Did you know October is National 4-H month?

The Twin Mounds 4-H club has been busy promoting 4-H through the community and surrounding towns. • The first weekend of October, members participated in a hotdog and baked goods sale at the Cushing Atwoods.

Deer are always looking for their next meal, and they often find forage in a well-kept landscape. Whether rural or urban, homeowners can get frustrated when their landscape ends up looking like a salad bar after the lunchtime rush.

Fall Clean Up, Oct. 24 - Oct. 30

The annual fall clean up for Cushing will begin Monday, Oct. 24 and run through Saturday, Oct. 29. Open hours at the Convenience Center, 515 North Luella Street, for trash drop off on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hours for Wednesday and Saturday are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Our tube TV wouldn’t die. We were late to the flat-screen TV phase of entertainment because we had a perfectly good tube TV that wouldn’t quit, and the financial guy in me couldn’t justify replacing it. Everyone in the family wanted a flat screen, but our old TV wouldn’t die.
