Various factors led to the cancellation of a concert event in Cushing after the first night. Freedom Fest, an event created by Harmony Productions, owned by area resident Ryan Harmon, was set to be held at Centennial Park on July 2 and 3.

Nearly two years after being charged with embezzling $70,000 from a local business, a Cushing woman entered a plea agreement in Payne County District Court last week and was placed on six year’s probation and was ordered to pay restitution, fines and fees.

Oklahoma State Department of Health as of June 28 reports 455,986 total cases an increase of 1,102.The active case count has increased by 214 since last reported. Active cases are now reported at 1,505. There have been 447,097 recoveries and 7,384 deaths attributed to the virus since testing began.

Koln Knight’s time as Cushing Public School’s superintendent offi cially ended with his retirement on June 30. Knight has held the position of superintendent since the post opened in 2009 after then superintendent Eddie Williams retired.
