After being gone for over a year, President of the Hillcrest Hospital Cushing Auxiliary, Darla Hoggat, says it is good to be back at the hospital volunteering again. The Hillcrest Hospital Cushing website describes the auxiliary as invaluable as far as fundraising and volunteer work are concerned.

Recycling coming to Main Street Cushing

Cushing Pride Director Richard Thackray was approached to lead a city clean up program on Feb 16, 2018. The objective was to create ways to get the community to engage in picking up litter. Soon after, he was approached about getting Cushing Pride interested in a “Recycling” program.
Dea Rash, OHCE Advisor, along with OHCE members Patsy Rains, Misty Burk, Pat McNally, Betty Rutledge, and Sharon Klingaman were in attendance to present pies to Commissioners’ Chris Reding, Rocky Blaiser, and Zach Cavett after the Payne County Commission’s proclamation of Oklahoma Home and Community Week.

Commission proclaims OHCE Week

Oklahoma Home and Community Education (OHCE) week was proclaimed for Payne County at the May 3 meeting of the Payne County Commission. Since 1935, this organization has been helping their members build family and leadership skills among their community.

How wonderful to see so much happening in the Broadway District. I had stated in the last article that March was a busy month. Well did not compare to April! Things are really opening up and making things happen. Everyday is a new exciting day.

Payne County Gains Mileage

A roadway plan by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) was approved during a recent County Commissioners meeting to include another 12 miles for Payne County. This number may seem small and insignificant but it is actually better news than one might expect.
