COVID-19 Update

According to the Oklahoma State Department of Health, as of Mon. March 22, Oklahoma had 10,540 active cases of COVID-19 — a 10-percent drop. There have been 437,853 total cases since testing began with 422,360 recovered and 4,953 deaths attributed to the virus.

Man fatally shot southwest of Mannford

One Creek County man is dead and another is in custody after a shooting at rural residence southwest of Mannford on Tuesday, March 30.

Truck burned at gas pumps

Police have not yet released details of a fire that occurred late Wednesday morning at a local gas station. According to Yale Police Chief Phillip Kelley, a man set fire to his truck while it sat alongside the gas pumps at the Mini Supermarket #112, at Main Street and East Chicago.

City of Yale slammed with $1.4 million gas bill

The City of Yale is working to figure out a way to pay a $1.4 million natural gas bill. “We are doing everything we can to make sure this bill isn’t reflected onto our customers,” says Phillip Kelly, Yale police chief and acting city manager.

Committee Work Continues

We’ve wrapped up another busy week at the Capitol, but in the midst of all the bills, we still found time to stop and focus on the people we’re serving. Monday was Vietnam Veterans Day, and I attended the Oklahoma Vietnam Veterans Day Observance at the Oklahoma History Center that morning.

Encinas awarded quilt for military service

On Tuesday, March 30, Sue Cline, representing the Piecemakers of Cushing, Quilts of Valor, of the Daughters of the American Revolution, dropped in on the Cushing Lady Tigers’ Softball stadium and, between games, presented a Quilt of Valor to assistant Lady Tiger Softball Coach Josh Encinas.
