Drumright man facing 20 years in oilfield scheme

A Drumright man pleaded guilty to money laundering and fraud in federal court in Tulsa on Monday. 59-year-old David Owen West admitted that he defrauded an Illinois-based petroleum company of more than $400,000 while he worked for them over a period of four years.

COVID-19 Update

According to the Oklahoma State Department of Health, as of Mon. Feb. 15, Oklahoma has 26,651 active cases of covid-19. There have been 414,272 total cases since testing began, with 389,035 recovered and 4,041 deaths attributed to the virus. Creek county has 326 active cases.

Legislature Begins New Session

On Monday, the Legislature opened the session by hearing the Governor’s third annual State of the State address. We also started having committee meetings, and the next few weeks will see a heavy workload in committees. Viewing a committee meeting gives great insight to how the Legislature operates.

An opinion on herd immunity

Herd immunity. While this term is commonplace in my professional life, chances are these words rarely graced the dinner table prior to 2020. It is more settling to think of herds of cattle than herds of people.

Basketball Cushing Tiger Basketball Homecoming was held during halftime of the boys basketball game against the Bristow Pirates last Friday. Lola Nanaeto was crowned CHS Basketball Queen and Landon Jansen was crowned king.
