According to the Oklahoma State Department of Health as of Monday, Nov. 23, there are 7,463,554 active cases of COVID-19 in the United States. Since testing began, there have been 12,246,849 total cases, 4,526,513 of those have recovered, and 256,782 deaths have been attributed to the virus.

City receives DEQ permit for collection and burn

The City of Cushing has received its collection and burn site permit from the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) and will begin the debris collection process on Monday, Nov. 16. According to City Manager Terry Brannon, collection is expected to last around a month.

Sales tax revenue down 3.3 percent

The Oklahoma Tax Commission recently released its November distribution of sales tax collections which primarily represent local tax receipts from September business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to fi le and pay electronically.

The crime data chart is derived from reports completed by Cushing Police Department offi cers and submitted to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation database. Cushing PD is among 415 sheriff s’ offi ces and police departments in Oklahoma that provide crime and arrest data to OSBI each month.

The Board of Education of Central Technology Center in Drumright has announced that individuals interested in running as a candidate for Seat #1 on the Central Technology Center Board of Education may file to run as a candidate at the Creek County Election Board offi ces between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
