Cushing musician Michael Music to perform at Arcadia Round Barn

ARCADIA – Cushing musician Michael Music will present Morning Music on Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Arcadia Round Barn. Music will perform from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. beneath the shade of the giant elm tree on the north side of the barn. Admission is free but donations are appreciated.

Cushing enrollment down slightly

Cushing Public Schools saw a slight dip in enrollment for the 2020-21 academic school year, compared to last year. Superintendent Koln Knight said Cushing has 1,550 students, which includes both in-person, and virtual learning.

The Cushing Chamber’s 32nd Annual Festival In The Park would not be the same without Cushing Lion’s “Chili Cook Off” contest. According to Lion’s Club Vice President Richard Thackray, it’s not about the $150 fi rst place prize or the trophy you receive.

Stillwater man and woman hospitalized after spectacular crash

A Stillwater man and his female passenger were injured in a single car accident northwest of Ripley late Sunday, Aug. 30. According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Ryan Long, Dylan Alexander, 22, of Stillwater was driving a 2020 Dodge Challenger east on 68th Street (E 670 Road).

Cushing Alumni The Cushing Alumni Association will not meet until Jan. 5, 2021 at Alumni Hall at 6 p.m. At that meeting, the association plans to review nominations for new offi cers and vote on them. Association members say they are in need of more alumni on the board of directors and offi cers.

Harper elected Payne County Sheriff

Joe Harper, a fi eld deputy for the Payne County Sheriff ’s Offi ce was elected as Payne County’s top law enforcement offi cer in last week’s runoff election. Harper defeated incumbent sheriff Kevin Woodward 2,121 votes to 1,664, with 56 percent of the vote.

Tigers excited to get season underway
