First Official 400-class Elk Sets New State Record

STILLWATER — A 40-year-old man from Gulf Breeze, Florida, who reportedly apologized to Satan repeatedly, has been charged with attempting to gain control of a police officer's gun and doing about $7,000 damage to a Stillwater hotel where he was staying.

As January arrived, winter wasted no time making itself known across Oklahoma. Snow blanketed much of the state, and in Cushing, residents reported anywhere from three to six inches on the ground. Streets slowed, routines shifted, and the year began under quiet, snow-muted skies.
Debbie Brown, director of the Senior Citizen Center, stands with Jason Kinsey of Steer Inn Cushing after Kinsey donated and delivered a Christmas feast for local seniors. The meal included barbecue pulled pork, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, rolls and apple cobbler, serving 81 seniors at the center and providing 30 meals to homebound residents.

State fire outlook remains moderate

East-central Oklahoma spent Monday in the space between “not critical” and “not comfortable” — that state when wildfire behavior can be manageable, right up until a spark lands in the wrong patch of dormant grass and the winds are pushing 10-13 m.p.h.
