Gloria Sue Walters Duffner, a former Cushing resident now of Oklahoma City, passed away Saturday evening, May 30, 2020 at the age of 90 years.

The daughter of the late E. E. “Buster” Walters and Margie Treese Walters. Gloria was born on April 13, 1930 in Cushing and was raised and educated here, graduating from Cushing High School. She later attended Monticello Women’s College in Godfrey, Illinois, and the University of Oklahoma. She majored in journalism and was a lifetime member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She was a longtime member of the All Souls Episcopal Church and Alta Guild. She was a docent for the Oklahoma Art Center, a member of the Junior League of OKC; President of the Oklahoma Builders Association Women’s Auxiliary. She was involved in Ballet Oklahoma and loved the Oklahoma City Symphony, where she volunteered. Gloria and her son, Christian attended the Symphony & Pops which they loved. Being a grandmother was what she loved most and her grandchildren felt like she was a wonderful grandmother.

She is survived by her children, Christian Edward Duffner of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Dianne Susan DelCid, and her husband, Donald, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and Linda Claire Anderson and her husband, Carl, of Paradise Valley, Arizona; one brother Charles Walters of Novato, California; grandchildren, Jason David Laurence, Christian Eric Duffner, Lawton Edward Laurence and his wife, Susan, Haley Suzanne Laurence, Carl B. Anderson, IV, and wife Simone, and Christopher Anderson and wife Elaine, Landon Laurence, Halsey Anderson and Bayard Anderson; Carter and Cate Anderson; along with several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her eldest son David Walters Duffner.

She will be remembered as a beautiful, vibrant lady with glowing, red hair who enjoyed life to the fullest.

A special thanks goes to the staff of the Mansions at Waterford for the past two years for their incredible caregivers and also to her son Chris for the care that he was able to provide for his mother.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Christopher Yoder, All Souls Episcopal Church in Oklahoma City, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Cushing, Oklahoma.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Alzheimer’s research, in her memory.
