Jack Nelson Daugherty, longtime Cushing resident, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020 with his family by his bed.

The son of the late Claude Alexander Daugherty and Anita Ruth O’Bryan Daugherty, Jack was born on February 7, 1936 in San Bernadino, California. He came to Cushing as a youth, graduating from Cushing High School. During high school he excelled in football, baseball, and track, winning All state in baseball his senior year. He was considered by many to be one of the very best athletes to come out of Cushing. He was very competitive, hating to lose and did his very best to excel at everything he did.

He served his Country in the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. Following his honorable discharge in March of 1962, he return to Cushing.

He was united in marriage to Ronda Wright and to this union four daughters were born. He later married Mary Busch and gaining two more daughters.

Jack was a carpenter by trade and was known as a craftsman to the trade. He would measure multiple times before cutting once, to insure the job was completed right the first time.

He attended the First Church of God of Cushing; he enjoyed going to the Senior Citizen Center, shooting pool, talking to his many friends and being a pest to all that he could. Even after high school Jack continued to excel at sports such as golf and bowling. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Surviving include his wife Mary of the home; his children, Stacy (Ron) Pendergraff of Agra, Lisa (Karry) Simpson of Cushing, Amy (Jeffery) Jones of Cushing, Robin Buckles of Cushing, and Traci Parsel (Matthew) of Stillwater; two sisters Yovenne Kinder of West Virginia, and Judy (Ronnie) Anderson of Cushing; 16 grandchildren; 40 greatgrandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Jenny Daugherty; two brothers, Kenny and Bobby Daugherty, and one great-grandson, Breckyn Ford.

Services will be held outdoors at Crossway Church, 1214 East North Street, Cushing OK, on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Sonny Johnston and Kevin Clouse officiating.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in his memory. (PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-0050)
