Steve DeWayne Kanady a longtime Cushing resident, passed from this life on Thursday, November 12, 2020 in Tulsa at the age of 69. Funeral services will be held at1:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel, Cushing, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, Oklahoma.
Visitation will be held at 4:00 pm to 7:00pm. on Tuesday at Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma.
Steve was born on March 12, 1951 in Cushing to the late Noland and Lois (Brooks) Kanady. He was born in Cushing raised in Agra until senior year of high school graduating from Cushing High School in 1969. Then attended school at OSU Okmulgee Tech. He enlisted in the National Guard, serving for six years. He was honorably discharged in 1976. Steve married the love of his life, Linda Thibodeaux on May 27, 1972 at the First Assembly of God in Cushing. To this union, Lori and Brian were born. After technology school, he began working for Texas Instrument in Dallas until 1978 when they moved back to Cushing. He then worked for Mer Cruiser for 30 years until they closed and he retired. After a short retirement he worked for Drive Train in Okc then to ASCO in Stillwater in tool design.
Any free time Steve had, he could be found outside working on his old cars and playing with the grandkids. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be missed by all.
Steve is survived by his wife, Linda Kanady of the home; children, Lori Welch and husband Aaron of Cushing, Ok, Brian and Cass Kanady of Cushing, OK; sister, Lawanna Kelley and husband Corbet of Drumright, Ok; brothers, David Kanady and wife Edith of Paden, Don Kanady and wife Joyce of Texas; grandchildren, Tristan Kanady, Caden Welch, Harper Kanady; sister in law, Beverly Darling; nieces, Lorna and Bridgett. Jessica, Billy Jo, Mercedes, Angie; nephews, Jeff and Brandon
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Nolan and Lois (Brooks) Kanady; one brother, Johnny Kanady.
The family ask that those attending please wear a mask, they do not want another family to go through what they’ve been through.
