Theda Marie Smith • April 1, 1924 - September 12, 2020

Theda Marie Smith, longtime Cushing resident, now of Oklahoma City, passed away Saturday evening, September 12, 2020 at the age of 96 years.

The daughter of the late James Onboy Overdeer and Carrie Matilda Gray Overdeer, Theda was born on April 1, 1924 in Drumright, Oklahoma. She received her early education in the Drumright Schools, graduating from Cushing High School.

She was united in marriage to James A. Smith, Sr., on October 12, 1943 in Salinas, California. To this union three children, Kent, James Jr. and Theda Jean were born. James preceded her in death on August 26, 1993.

Theda was a longtime member of the First Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, needle work and sewing. She loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Kent D. Smith of Bedford, Texas and James A. Smith Jr., of Sulphur, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Terri, Rodny, Kyle and Bethany; several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Theda Jean Bell; one brother James Overdeer and two sisters, Helen Rice and Lois Combs. Services will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 11 a.m. in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.
