Cimarron Valley Communications has two new additions to our staff and I am proud to make the introductions. Typo and Adobe Photoshop. Typo is a four month old grey tabby kitten who’s main job duty is pest control. Typo has been on staff for a month now and is excelling at his job.

Interim Studies to Begin Again

The House is picking back up again as interim studies begin this month. The Oklahoma Constitution directs the state legislature to meet in regular session from the beginning of February through the end of May.

Talks too Much

I can’t count the number of report cards that I brought home with “talks too much” written in red ink. My mom kept lemon juice, tea, and honey well stocked for many reasons not the least of which being the sheer volume of sore throats I had after any extended amount of excitement.

The House is expected to return to the State Capitol on Monday, July 31 to consider overriding the veto of a bill related to tribal compacts.

I gained perspective. Since getting into journalism, my goal has always been to cover sports at the college or professional level and do things all sports journalists aspire to do. Break news, cover big games, write feature stories on well-known athletes. Things like that. That’s still my goal.

Improving DHS

I often hear from constituents regarding issues or concerns about child custody, child welfare or foster care and the Oklahoma Dept. of Human Services (DHS). Ensuring our children are safe and well-cared for is one of my top priorities.
