Legislative Deadline Passes

This week was a deadline week, so we worked late into the night multiple days in a row to discuss and debate legislation. Thursday was our last day to pass bills out of their chamber of origin, which means we had to vote on all House bills by this deadline so they could be transferred to the Senate.

Thursday, March 24 marked the deadline for the full Senate to vote on legislation that started out in our chamber.

Long Floor Days

After last week’s deadline to pass bills out of committees, we have spent many long days on the House floor hearing and voting on all of those bills. I want to share details of some legislation dealing with issues that many of my constituents have contacted me about.

What would you do if the shelves were bare? Sure they’ve been sparse lately… but we haven’t had to truly go without. Maybe buy an off brand product here and there, or choose whole milk instead of skim, but we have been able to get what we need (or a decent dupe of it at least) in the end.

Committee Deadline Passes

I’ve had several questions from constituents about committee work, so I want to detail that part of the legislative process. Early in the session, the Floor Leader’s team assigns each bill to the committee that most closely aligns with the subject matter of the bill.

We as a people need to stop and think really hard about the media we allow ourselves to consume. If I were to ask you where you were at on September 11th, 2001, I bet most of you would know exactly where you were. I am thankful that I was young enough to not remember.
