The Cushing High School cheerleaders are tasked with choosing the most spirited student from the Tiger student section during each basketball game and awarding them with the Fieldhouse Fanatic spirit award. Last Friday’s Fieldhouse Fanatics were Cason Brandon, left, and Addisyn Fields.

CUSHING — While the Cushing Lady Tigers did not hoist the 4A-3 District plaque Friday, their surprise new look and unprecedented defensive effort had Mannford Head Coach Nathan Reed darting up and down the sideline like a longtailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

The Cushing High School Lady Tigers powerlifting athletes delivered a impressive performance at their latest competition and secured a runner-up title. According to Coach Breann Cargill Todd, the team missed overall champion by just two points.

In the last ten days, the 13th-ranked Cushing Tiger basketball team lost a 41-42 nail biter to Perkins, hammered Cleveland 58-71, took the Sperry Maroons out behind the woodshed and thrashed them 70-22, and suffered a homecoming loss to the No. 13 Kiefer Trojans, 45-66.
