Tigers clinch home playoff opener

OOLOGAH - The Cushing Tigers needed to win at Oologah last week and will need to beat Skiatook this week to secure a home playoff opener. They got Oologah, 45-24, last Friday and are half way to their goal.

Cushing’s Amaya Grant finds the podium at state cross country meet

EDMOND - Cushing Lady Tiger cross country senior Amaya Grant ran at the front of the pack at the OSSAA State Cross Country Finals last week and fought her way to a podium finish — third overall — just a few strides behind the first place finisher. Grant, who ran the 3,200-meter in 11:59.

Five Lady Tigers named to All District Team

Reed and Ward named to regional team Five members of the Cushing Lady Tigers fastpitch softball team were named to the All District team. And two were named to the regional squad. Melannie Townes, who led the team in RBIs with 23, was named all district catcher. She batted .368 with a .

Tigers stun Class 4A with 6-2 record (so far)

CUSHING - The Cushing Tiger football team is 6-2 overall with just two games left in the season. They are ranked No. 7 in class 4A and are sitting in the second spot in their district — arguably the toughest district the Oklahoma 4A football.

Cushing mauls Cleveland 63-6

CUSHING - Cushing Head Coach Rusty Morgan wanted to ensure his teams’ dominance of the Cleveland Tigers in order to get as many of his athletes on the field as he could before the game was over. “One thing that we emphasized all week was starting fast and limiting penalties,” he said.
