Phyllis Sharp Gooding

Phyllis Sharp Gooding was born March 13, 1941, to James Sharp and Adeline (Fisher) Sharp. She departed this life on April 22, 2024, at the age of 83 years. Phyllis graduated from Cushing High School with the class of 1959. She then attended Oklahoma State University for accounting and finance. She was united in marriage to Dale Gooding on December 23, 1961, in Cushing. To this union one son, Michael, was born. Dale preceded her in death on December 8, 2019. Phyllis enjoyed playing the piano; she played in many competitions while she was younger and played for the First Baptist Church for many years. She owned and operated Carter Janitorial. Survivors include her son, Michael Gooding and wife, Cindy, of Oklahoma City; two grandchildren, Shae Gooding and Amber Dawson and husband, Evan; three great-grandchildren, Ashur Watts, Arilyn Dawson and Zaeli Dawson; brother-in-law, Doyle Gooding and wife, Janie; two nieces, Kristi Costa and Ann Sharp; two nephews, James Sharp and Kelly Gooding; two-great nieces, Katie and Kayla; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by one brother, James Sharp and his wife, Connie and one niece, Julie. Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. on April 30, 2024, at the Fairlawn Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Matherly-Davis Funeral Home. James Roy Pickard (Jim) of Cushing, Oklahoma passed away from this life on April 9, 2024. Cremation has been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, in Cushing, Oklahoma. Entombment of the ashes is left to his daughter. Lee Ann will release them in the wind from the pier in Oceanside, California.

Nancy Belle Hendricks

WARD, Nancy Belle Hendricks, formerly of Cushing, OK and Oklahoma City, passed away March 31, 2024. Born May 25, 1933 in the small community of Spotsville, AR to Baxter Abe and Callie Ainsworth Hendricks, Nancy was seventh of eight children. She started grade school at age five graduating from Village High School in 1950 at age 16. After graduation, she married TC Braswell. They welcomed three children Mike, Tim and Alicia. TC’s job with Phillips took them to south Texas until his final transfer to Cushing OK in 1970. When her children were young, Nancy was a Cub Scout Den Mother, DeMolay Mom and sewed dance recital costumes for Alicia and her dance class. Nancy married Tom Ward in Cushing, OK October 21, 1976. Nancy and Tom enjoyed spending time with their combined families. They enjoyed many years traveling, playing golf, volunteering, church and friends. She enjoyed accompanying Tom around the state while he was a member of Masonic Grand Lodge. Nancy was an avid gardener and a graduate of the 1984 Oklahoma County Master Gardener’s Program. She enjoyed sharing her love of flowers with her neighbors and volunteered to plant the flower beds at her church and her neighborhood association. She was a longtime member of Daughters of the Nile where she was a member of the sewing group. She spent many hours making blankets to send to children at the Shrine Hospitals.

Christine June (Luallen) McEntire

Christine June (Luallen) McEntire was born on June 10, 1964, in Cushing, Oklahoma, to parents Arthur and Linda (Weirick) Luallen. Christine was raised in the Cushing area where she also graduated from high school. She met and married Ralph McEntire. To their union were given 5 children: Amanda, Matthew, Ashley, Brittany, and Addisyn. Christine was the type of person that made friends wherever she went. She always wore a smile on her face, had a story to tell, and usually a comment to be made. She was all about her family, she loved and cared for them, especially her grandbabies. Grandbaby hugs and kisses held a special place in her heart.

Linda June (Walton) Toops

Linda June (Walton) Toops was born on April 13, 1944, to parents Richard “Dick” and Nina (Burke) Walton in Klamath Falls, OR. Linda was the second of seven born into their union. Their family moved where the work was, so Linda grew up in many different states, graduating high school from Seminole, Oklahoma and going to college in Ada, Oklahoma.
